Gorgeous, deep green Japanese fishing float.  Hand-blown, spherical in shape, and sealed with a blob “button” of molten glass (marker's mark or stamp) .  Larger than most.

Japan started using glass floats as early as 1910. Historically, these floats were lost at sea by fisherman at sea. They were caught up in the Pacific currents and, after long periods of time, were deposited by tides on the coastal beaches of North America.

This float is in exceptional condition.  Exhibits air bubbles produced in the glass blowing process.  No chips or cracks.  An awesome nautical, maritime display piece!
