An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese sterling silver vinaigrette in the form of a purse; an addition to our silver boxes and Chinese silverware collection
DescriptionThis exceptional antique Chinese silver box/ vinaigrette has a rectangular form.
The surface of this silver vinaigrette is embellished with chased decoration depicting simplified Oriental figures amidst an array of foliage and apart of various scenes.
The case is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover which opens to allow access to the hinged pierced scrolling leaf decorated grille.
The interior of the box and grille retain the original gilding.
This exceptional box has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver.
Often boxes from this period show signs of wear, this piece has seen little to no use; examples such as this are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
ConditionThis antique Chinese silver vinaigrette is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The chased decoration is very sharp.
There are no hallmarks as often the case with small examples crafted for Chinese export; the date and origin can be determined by the composition and decoration.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this antique Chinese vinaigrette in silver.
