George Savary Wasson, the artist who originated this sketch book, was a distant relative of my mother.
His relation as I have found to date, comes from her mother's ancestral family, the Silsbee's one of whom married Mr Wasson.
I received the book from my mother shortly before her death in 2012. It had been in her possession since her mother's passing in 1968
After long study of the sketches, and internet searches of the sketch captions, I noticed the single page with his name included.
A faint "Geo. S. Wasson" is written on the page with the "Pingaree Steamer". Dates in the book are '83, that is 1883, which would make
this one of his first sketch books. I have found only newer sketch books displayed on the Glouchester, Mass. city museum website.
Copies and reproduction of these photos are not allowed.
There are fifty-seven sketched pages between two covers in this complete book. He was a well known writer and artist classically trained
in Germany, born and raised in the New England states of Maine and Massachusetts.
Please note, the color of these photos are too dark and red. The actual color for all, is as in the scene with the seated chef.
