The Olympus Trip 35 is a camera designed and named with the same thing in mind: A camera that you can take on a trip for holiday snapshots that you don't have to think (much) about. It has a fully-automatic exposure system that you don't have to think about. The only thing you have to do is set the focus zone (the Mountain is for very far away things, The group of people is for things that are about 15 feet away, the two people is for things about 6 feet away and single person is for things about three feet away). If you forget these numbers, the bottom of the lens shows a scale in both feet and meters (and you can always substitute yards for meters).

As part of the exposure system, when there is not enough light to expose a picture properly, these cameras came with a lock-out system that keeps you from pressing the shutter release accompanied with a red plastic flag that would pop up in the viewfinder to let you know the problem was an exposure issue. The lock-out system still works on this camera but the red flag doesn't always pop up to let you know about the reason for the lock-out. That doesn't mean the exposure system isn't working, it is working fine, it's just about the flag. I have used this quite regularly without any other issues. 

There were very few of these cameras that came in black and this is a very nice cosmetic example.
