AMES Mfg Co 1864 CIVIL WAR SWORD CHICOPEE Mass. US JMW No Scabbard

The hilt is approximately 6 3/4 inches long. The blade is approximately 32 1/2”.

As per my research, I do believe this is a authentic civil war sword. AMES mfg. company, Chicopee Mass. with markings US JMW 1864. It also has initials HDH, which could possibly be the soldier. It comes with no scabbard. But is in very good condition given its age. The tip of the sword is fully intact. Blade does have patina on it, but I find no gouges on it.
