S1756. Bronze Hybrid Dragon Sculpture. Statue. Lost Wax.  A Fisher Original.  Foundry in Spain.

European and Asian mythology portrays dragons in different forms.  European dragons are most often winged and Asian dragons have an abundance of scales and resemble large snakes.  The artist (Fisher) created a hybrid with a row of dorsal spines, wings, scales, and the head of an Asian / Chinese dragon.

Fisher is an American sculptor well known for his wildlife creations.  This dragon is no exception to his craftsmanship.  Cast in a Spanish foundry using the archaic method of the “lost wax” process.  Stained with permanent brown patina finish.

Mounted on a marble base.  It's rough, it's wild, it's exciting, it's cool . . . it should be on your desk or shelf.

I have been a collector for over 60 years and have spent this time searching for the most unique, wonderous and culturally-significant pieces from far off places like Africa, Middle East, South & Southeast Asia, Central & South America and the Oceania Islands.  Most were acquired from the country of origin and/or from avid collectors.  All that I know about the item - through provenance or my own research - is shown in the listing.  It’s now time for me to thin out my collection. I am sure you will enjoy this item and its history as much as I have.
