The story of Jill Barklem - Jill Barklem lives with her husband and two children, on the edge of Epping Forest.     In 1973, as an escape from the routine of commuting to art school in London, Jill began record her thoughts in a sketchbook.   She compiled a series of well-researched workbooks, collecting information on natural food, traditional crafts, wildlife, herbal remedies - all  interspersed with her observations on the forest.   From these observations developed a series of stories about a self-sufficient community of mice living in a hedgerow which she names Brambly Hedge.      Encouraged by her husband, Jill offered he work for publication.    In 1980 Collins published the first four Brambly Hedge books, since followed by new stories.
