One of the most successful fragrances from the Dzintars factory during the Soviet era.

The aroma is romantic and exciting, with a floral undertone.

The packaging says: “A new fantasy on a classic theme. A sophisticated bouquet of lily of the valley, rose, jasmine and magnolia symbolizes the image of a dreamy romantic woman.”

Baltais sapnis, which translates from Latvian as “White Dream”. Their authors were I. Gerchikov and M. Frolova.

The expression “white dream” does not have any fixed meaning, but in Soviet times it was often used as a caption for winter landscape photographs - those in which the absolute stillness of nature was felt. Usually this immobility was symbolized by frost-covered, snow-covered trees: after all, caps of snow fall from the branches at the slightest breeze - or when a bird larger than a bullfinch tries to sit on a branch. No people, no animals in the visible space, only snow, silence, a forest asleep until spring. The aroma of Baltais sapnis fits perfectly into this picture - like a transparent shard of river ice.The main parts in Baltais sapnis are performed by white lilies and tuberoses, refracted through the prism of aldehydes and seasoned with a fair amount of synthetic musk - all together this gives a very cold sound with a metallic snowy tint.

In the 1990s, Dzintars sometimes placed a description of the fragrance directly on the packaging, so on my box of Baltais sapnis some notes of this fragrance are indicated: lily of the valley, rose, jasmine, magnolia - a rather vague description in which not a word is said about snow and cold. In the 2000s, a more detailed pyramid was published on the Dzintars website, which also seemed to have nothing winter in it:beginning – lily, lily of the valley, lemon;
