Windsor & Newton “Lock and Key” watercolor box. Marked Windsor and Newton on inside of box. C. 1850. 9” wide x 4.25” deep x 2.5” high.

Watercolor kit in overall very good condition, with small dents and wear to exterior of box. Some small tears and losses to fabric on bottom. Box locks and unlocks without issue. Includes 12 paint samples in their original marked container, with many Windsor and Newton originals bearing their original markings. Also includes 2 brushes, a scraper/chisel, 3 circular ceramic bowls, 2 small rectangular ceramic bowls marked “W&M” London on bottom with paint still inside (1 with small chip to edge), 5 Windsor & Newton paints with original labels, and a small unknown piece with Chinese characters on both sides. Also includes The Art of Painting and Drawing in Coloured Crayons, a small pamphlet which offers a similar box for sale on Page 7 of the 2nd section of the booklet. Loss and wear to booklet, with detached pages and sections and an overall need for rebinding.
