This special (after market) production rubber drive ring replaces the old worn rubber drive ring on idler wheels used in Rock-Ola models 1455, 1458, 1460, 1462, 1464, 1465, 1468, 1475, 1478, 1484, 1485. It is also used in the models 1488, 1493, 1494, 1495, 1496, and 1497 and can be found in 404, 408, 414, 418 and some later models up to the mid 1960s too which play 45 RPM records only, i.e. no intermix for 45/33 rpm.

To know if this rubber drive ring fits your old idler wheel, please check the following:

Worn, brittle or damaged rubber drive rings cause various sound distortions like ambient noise, varying speeds, or speed which is too slow.

1 ( = One) of:

ROCK-OLA

Turntable Idler wheel rubber ring.

Brand   new   production!

The idler wheels for which this rim is intended, were

used by Rock-Ola starting with the

model 1455 in 1956/1957, and the idler wheel, was continued all the way up

through to the model 1497 (year 1962 Empress), and then used in most 45 rpm models after that, excluding those with 33/45 rpm intermix feature.

Anybody who has worked on these Rock-Ola jukes knows

that most of the original idler wheels have got rubber rings which are now as

hard as nails, and which have dents and dings in the rubber

where the turntable spindle has been rubbing against the rubber ring

while the turntable was jammed above it all!   Getting the correct and constant

45 rpm turntable speed with a clapped-out old idler wheel or idler wheel rim (and idler spring!) is impossible!

By using this replacement outer rim, you keep your own old idler wheel base and remove the old hardened rubber ring and replace it with this new one.

This replacement idler wheel, brand new production  is rarely available, and is scarcer than rocking-horsh it!   It is   NOT   New Old Stock - it is fresh production with the proper soft rubber ring.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The last 2 photos shows the correct, and brand new, idler wheel spring to be used on this idler wheel. This spring is NOT included in the sale of the idler wheel ring, but is available separately - see our eBay listings under Rock-Ola idler wheel spring. Just about 100% of the time when you replace the idler wheel or idler wheel ring, you will also need to replace the idler spring.
