Artist: Sebastian Münster (1488-1552) Sebastian Münster was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and Hebrew scholar who lived from 1488 to 1552. Münster's maps were based on the latest geographic knowledge of the time and incorporated both Ptolemaic and contemporary information.

The first publisher of Sebastian Münster's "Cosmographia" was Heinrich Petri. The initial edition of the work, which consisted of six books, was published by Heinrich Petri in Basel, Switzerland, in 1544.

The "Cosmographia" covers a wide range of subjects, including geography, astronomy, history, ethnography, and natural history.
