Niles’ Weekly Register was founded by Hezekiah Niles in 1811 and published till 1849 with the idealistic mission of publishing accounts of  "The Past, The Present,  For the Future,”  Niles’ reported the goings on of the Congress, Senate, and the White House with reports on speeches made, laws proposed and day to day activity. Niles' also reported on economics, technology, science, medicine, geography, archaeology, and stories of human interest.
