The AMD-K6-2 processor's graphics performance

AMD-K6-2 processor's combination of 3DNow! technology and
superscalar MMX technology capability enables a total sensory
experience including full 3D sound and rich digital video. From
movie-quality DVD to the surround sound of exciting new PC games,
the AMD-K6-2 processor works together with today's multimedia
applications to provide a more enjoyable PC experience. DirectX
and OpenGL libraries optimized for the AMD-K6-2 processor's 3DNow!
technology will enable you to travel through 3D web environments
with smooth imagery and crystal-clear sound.
K6-2+ was based on the AMD K6-III+ design (model 13) with 128 KiB
of integrated L2
cache and
built on a 0.18 micrometre process (vs a 0.25 process for K6-2) and is essentially a K6-III+
with half the L2 cache. The K6-2+ was specifically designed as
a low-power mobile CPU. Most major motherboard companies such as
Gigabyte and FIC provided BIOS updates for their desktop
motherboards to allow for usage of these processors. The
processors could use the motherboard cache as a L3 cache.
Without the bios update, the CPU worked better with the
motherboard cache turned off. |
