St. John's Wort is a very common plant that grows on roadsides and in sunny fields. It is native to Europe, North Africa and Central Asia, but we find it in many regions of the planet. St. John's Wort has been used for therapeutic purposes for more than 2,000 years. St. John's wort blooms in mid-spring, although in some regions its bloom coincides with the summer solstice, which is why it is called St. John's wort. It is a solar and luminous plant. Its golden yellow color draws attention when we see it bloom along roads and paths.

Many legends are told about this plant and magical properties are attributed to it. One of the most popular uses of the plant was to ward off evil spirits and ward off the devil.

In the Middle Ages it was already known and used to treat afflictive states considered at that time as a state of possession by evil spirits.

St. John's Wort oleate or tincture is more known than the essential oil. Due to the low performance of the plant, this has a somewhat high cost. In phytotherapy, tincture of St. John's wort or the dried plant are highly appreciated for their relief in antidepressant situations.

St. John's Wort essential oil has an interesting but discreet aroma, just like the aroma of the plant. This essential oil contains hypericin, the active principle to which antidepressant properties are attributed and which gives the essential oil its beautiful red color.
