This historical old woodcut map, titled "Schlesia nach aller gelegenheit in Wassern, Stetten, Bergen, mit sampt andern anstossenden Ländern" (Silesia in all its aspects, with waters, cities, mountains, and neighboring lands), was published by Heinrich Petri in c. 1574. It is an original 16th century map, 445 years old, and has been hand colored.

The antique map shows Silesia, a region marked by centuries of transformation and shifting borders, with the city Breslau (Wrocław, Poland) and other historical cities.
This map is a unique and valuable piece of history, and would be a prized addition to any collection.

Cartographer: Sebastian Münster (1488-1552) Sebastian Münster was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and Hebrew scholar who lived from 1488 to 1552. Münster's maps were based on the latest geographic knowledge of the time and incorporated both Ptolemaic and contemporary information.

The first publisher of Sebastian Münster's "Cosmographia" was Heinrich Petri in Basel, Switzerland.
