Decorative Antiques & Unique Interiors

A fantastic antique pair of framed prints. Four original prints stamped by the maker, Henry Bradbury (1829-60). Taken from his book 'The Ferns of Great Britain', and published in 1855. These wonderful seaweed prints use an innovative technique invented by Alois Auer and Andreas Worring in 1852. Bradbury improved this technique of pressing leaf specimens onto thin lead plates to create an fine detailed impression.

This collection comprises four of Bradbury's printed ferns. The book was written by Thomas Moore (1821-87) who was Curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden. The work was edited by the botanist John Lindley (1799-1865) and published by Bradbury & Evans, London.

We have had the prints professionally framed using old antique oak frames. With new mounts and backing boards. This is a stunning collection of original fern prints which was the height of fashion in the Victorian period.

Foxing to paper and marks. One has a slight tear. Shows signs of wear and tear as it is old and has been used, but only adds to its character. Great decorative item which would look fantastic in any home or business interior.
