RARE 18 INCH DIAL ANTIQUE MEMORIAL FUSEE WALL CLOCK-ST GEORGE'S CHURCH EDINBURGH

Please make use of the enlarge feature on the photos to view and appreciate this "one off" antique fusee wall clock in all its glory.

The clock: a superb 18 inch painted dial (overall diameter of 24 inches) clock made by the famous Scottish clock makers J.Ritchie & Son of Edinburgh, c1900. The outer wooden oak bezel is beautifully carved with "In Memoriam Matris Dilertissimae", Latin for "in memory of my dearest Mother". On the back of the dial is painted "St. Geo West", which I believe is a reference to Saint George's West Church in Edinbrugh, now amalgamated into "St. Andrew's & St. George's West Church".

As I hope the pictures show, it looks superb. The carved oak wooden bezel hinges at the top to allow access for winding and setting of the time, while access to the movement is from a bottom door and one side door (both working). The wooden bezel has some shrinkage cracks but is fully functioning. The large hands are original to the clock (counter-balanced within the movement). The sturdy chain fusee movement is in working order (although in untouched condition), and complete with its original pendulum. There is some loss/flaking of the paint to the dial.

So, at 24 inches in diameter, with a depth of 8 inches, and the enormous weight, this has to be for collection only, from sunny North Lincolnshire. No ifs or buts please, collection only from DN19 7LT

History, quality, sentimentality and WOW factor, this clock has it all.  A real statement piece.
