Receipt dated December 4th, 1739 in Boston by mercantile firm of Green & Walker to William Arnold for a payment of £100.19.6. Single sheet of paper measures approximately 4-5/8” x 5”.


In good condition, with a vertical fold down the center. Small tears and wear to top and bottom of fold. Light losses around edges and corners. Royal stamping to paper that is best seen under direct light. General age-related toning to paper. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing.

William Arnold was a Boston shipmaster in the Newfoundland trade, and was reputed to have repeatedly taken indentured fishermen from Newfoundland to Boston. Receipt by Green and Walker, a mercantile firm that existed throughout the bulk of the 18th Century.
