The famous Hilltop Steakhouse cactus sign on route 1 in Saugus MA was for one of the busiest restaurants in the US during the 1970s thru the 1990s. In 1961, Frank Giuffrida purchased a small bar on Route 1 and converted it into a 125-seat steakhouse. Soon due to its popularity Hilltop expanded to 400 seats and then to 1,500 seats and a butcher shop. The Hilltop steak house was famous for its 68 foot cactus sign and plastic cows.  The interior was western ranch décor with wooden Indians, buffalo heads, stone fireplaces and Victorian light fixtures. There were five dining rooms and a cocktail lounge.  They were named after wild west places such as Dodge city, Kansas city, Sioux City, Santa Fe, Carson city and Virginia city.  After many years of success Hilltop sadly closed in 2013.  But, the iconic sign is still there and preserving the memory of having a great steak dinner at the Hilltop steak house.
