Kirk Hammett's 1979 Flying V is a familiar guitar to Metallica fans around the world. The guitar was Kirk's first Gibson and one that established his passion for Gibson guitars. Kirk's purchase was inspired by the famous Flying V players he admired at the time and his desire for a fuller sound. Kirk continues to play that original guitar to this day, and has recorded a number of songs including "Kill 'Em All," "Ride the Lightning," "Master of Puppets," ". And Justice for All" and "The Black Album". Kirk's Flying V has earned a reputation as one of the most important guitars in heavy metal.

Now Epiphone, in cooperation with Gibson Custom Shop, is proud to release the Epiphone Kirk Hammett 1979 Flying V, a meticulous reproduction of Kirk's original guitar. It features a mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with volute, Grover Rotomatic machine heads with "spade" buttons, and a custom bridge. The electronics are top-notch as well, with Gibson USA calibrated T-type humbucker pickups, CTS potentiometers, Orange Drop condensers, Switchcraft 3-way pickup selector toggle switch, and 1/4 output jack. The back of the headstock is equipped with a Kirk Hammerschmidt The back of the headstock is adorned with the Kirk Hammett logo. It comes in a black hardshell case with red plush interior.
