In fair condition. Front hinges are all split, except for Vol. III, front board's attached by cording only. Rear hinges split on Volumes I, V, VI, and VII - exposed binding, rear boards attached by cording only on these editions. Heads and tails of all volumes lacking. Water dampness staining to rear board of Vol. VII. Leather boards are scuffed at edges & worn/bumped at corners. Gilt bordering around boards are rubbed & chipped, but mostly intact. Title labels and number labels on spines are intact, some are dulled and chipped. Ex-library bookplates found on front paste-downs: St. Mary's Seminary Library, Baltimore, Maryland. Marbled end-papers dulled in all volumes. Text-blocks toned, but overall clean. Bindings are intact - hinges are fragile. 

A scarce collection of some of the works of Montesquieu (1689-1755), including 4 volumes dedicated to Les Esperit des Lois.
