The mount measures approx. 192mm x 264mm
The pen and ink drawing measures approx. 112mm x 173mm.
Beau Brummell (1778–1840) was an
important figure in Regency England and for many years the arbiter of men's
fashion.
Bentley’s
wonderful black and white style is most famously evident in his illustrations
for T S Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats (1941). Bentley
provided cartoons for the Daily Mail as well as for Punch, Private Eye,
and the Sunday Telegraph.
