DESCRIPTION: Great feelings and great conflicts at a time when Poland and Lithuania were becoming a European power (1406-1409). These were strange and interesting years. Plagues devastated Europe, the Grand Duke of Lithuania, Vytautas, tried to conquer Moscow, and rulers gave each other gifts of lions, jesters, falconers and... spies. Some celebrated Saint John's Day and others - Kupala Night. Zawisza Czarny served King Jagielle, and Jan Falkenberg blackmailed Mikołaj Trąba. The Teutonic Knights elected a new grand master, Ulrich von Jungingen, who wanted to go to war, and the khan of the Golden Horde supported the Crown and sent his brother to the Krakow court. At Wawel Castle, the queen suspected of infidelity was locked in a gray chamber to later appear before the royal court, and the embittered court threw salt and wild rose seeds into the newlyweds' bed. Krakow, Vilnius and Malbork were full of agents and traitors, and the townspeople were impatiently waiting for the torture and trial of the pharmacist's widow accused of witchcraft, and for the beheading of the corrupt councilor Wierzynek. These were the times when kings only wanted to have sons, and queens wanted to express their own opinions. Times of love, hate, grief and hope. The times of Władysław Jagiełło.
