Original, authentic leather Miners poke. Hand made by the individual whose name is on the poke, L Shaw 1819. The stitching is still all in tact with ties. I came across this while panning for gold some years ago. Inside were the handmade scrapers, two look like obsidian arrow heads but not sure what the other two are. Also, four loose hand made nails that may have come from this Prospectors box. An amazing find from the California Gold Rush era. It's my guess that this was sitting in the River for nearly 200 years!!!! I have no idea what was used to sign the name with, maybe some type of clay! The size is 5" x 3" I have enjoyed having this as a part of American History, so hopefully someone else will have the same pleasure of owning a part of that too.
