Not much is known about Georg Leonhart Bauerkeller and Ewald Ludwig, most of the maps offered now are copies with modern printer colors.
Bauerkeller was also known for his three-dimensional maps of cities.
Bauerkeller deposited a patent application for his invention in France, in January the 18th, 1839.

From at least 1845, Ludwig Ewald was a primary author and was responsible for drafting the maps. Considered by the authorities to be one of the finest atlases of the 19th century, it is particularly noteworthy for its quality registration, sharp images, use of brown for relief and solid blue for water, multi-color lithography, and the size of its contents.

The Atlas was conceived of and initiated by Georg Leonhart Bauerkeller beginning in 1844 by subscription.
Ewald Ludwig (1813-1881) was a primary author and was responsible for drafting the maps.

The maps of Jonghaus & Venator utilize multi-color lithography, with brown used for relief and solid blue for water. The content of the atlas covers a wide range of geographical information.
