Title: Tabula Asiae V.

Old 16th century copper map of the Persian region between the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea showing Babylon and Armenia as well and ancient cities.

The map first appeared in the 1561 edition of Ruscelli's edition of Ptolemy's Geografia.The present example is the scarce third state of hte map, which adds the sailing ship.

Artists: Claudius Ptolemaeus revised and corrected by Giovanni Malombra, after Girolamo Ruscelli's translation.
