Beautiful antique and rare bronze medal of Saint Paula Frassineti, canonized on 11 March 1984.
She was born on March 3, 1809, in Genoa, Italy. She was the only daughter of Giovanni Battista (Jean-Baptist) and Angela Frassinetti, having among her brothers some who became priests. Paula's mother died when she was nine years old and Paula's aunt took care of the family, but she also died three years later. Paula, already twelve years old, became the owner of the house. Due to the endless homework she had no way to attend school, however every night her brothers taught her everything they had learned at school and her father clarified some doubts left by them and so Paula ended up having a reasonable education.
At the age of eighteen, he moved with some companions to a residence so that together they could dedicate their lives to God. They then began to teach, until, little by little, they opened educational institutions that are now located all over the world.
Paula Frassinetti died in June 1882 of pneumonia in the motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Dorothea. In 1906, the body was exhumed for transfer and was found incorrupt. Three years later, his funeral urn was reopened, and his body remained incorruptible. The Vatican demands material proof of this fact and submits the corpse to chemical tests and trials, including submerging it in acid, without obtaining any change in its appearance. In 1906 the intact body of the mother foundress of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Dorothea was transferred to the Chapel of the Generalate of St. Onofre in Rome (Sant'Onofrio al Gianicolo), where it has been exhibited since then in a crystal urn, donated by the Brazilian students, for public visitation.
On June 8, 1930, Paula Frassinetti was beatified by Pope Pius XI. On March 11, 1984, she was canonized by Pope John Paul II. This congregation now has numerous colleges in Portugal and Brazil.
She died in 1882 and in 1906 his body was found incorrupt.
