Hobby Master 1:72 T26E4 "Super Pershing" OCO-D, Germany 1945.

About This Model :

The M26 Pershing was developed at the end of WWII as the successor of the M4 Sherman.

Weighing in at 46 tons with 127mm of armor, excellent agility and a 90mm M3 gun for its punch, the Pershing was a tank capable of standing up to the Panthers and Tiger I's.

The M26 Pershing was deployed rather late onto the battlefields of WWII, with the first 20 landing in the Belgian port of Antwerp in January 1945.

These tanks would be the only Pershings to see combat in World War Two, spread between the 3rd and 9th Armored Divisions, part of the First Army.

The tanks drew their first blood in late February 1945 in the Roer river sector (not be confused with the Ruhr), with a famous duel taking place in March at Köln (Cologne).

At the start of the Korean War the M26 was sent to combat the Soviet built T-34/85s.

The M26 became the model for designing the M46, M48 and M60 tanks.
