It is widely played in South East, especially in India and is becoming more and more popular. Carrom us today amongst the world's favourite indoor games, enjoyed by friends and families worldwide. Similar to billiards, marbles, pool and air hockey in different ways, it is easy to understand, fun to play. Despite being classified as an 'indoor board game', it is unique in itself. It is not like dice games such as monopoly, nor like strategy games such as chess.

It involves a combination of physical and mental elements, and professional Carrom tournaments are now hosted worldwide.
