Vintage 1959 - 1960 Gibson L-7C

Thanks for looking!

This is an absolutely killer vintage Golden Era Gibson Archtop, and is the most affordable 1950's L-7c on the market!  The fully carved L-7C was produced between 1948 and 1972, and was constructed with the same materials, body size, bracing, and scale length as its costly cousin, the L-5C.

This guitar is a cannon. The type of tone you can only expect from the premium woods used in the "golden" year of 1959. Played on and off bandstands for decades, this L7's tone has aged like the finest french Bordeaux money can buy. A cannon when strummed loudly, but also full of subtle, complex tone when played with a discerning touch. New boutique archtops can't hold a candle to these 50's Gibsons!

This example has some mild playwear from nearly 70 years of use.   Little dings and play-marks too numerous to count, including a repaired top crack off the bass-side F-hole that has been closed, glued and finished over LONG ago.  This is a fantastic playing and sounding L7 and, as you'd expect from a Gibson archtop of this era, is made from absolutely premium woods.  The back shows incredible bookmatched bubble flame peeking out behind the original walnut finish.  The carved spruce top produces a warm yet focused tone worthy of the most skilled set of hands!

Original Sunburst finish throughout

Carved Spruce top sounds AMAZING

No headstock cracks or repairs
Stunning flame maple on the sides and back!
WIDE NUT at 1 and 11/16th inches
Full 1959 rounded "C" neck carve
Serial number of A-33300 dates this to very early 1960

(the build was likely completed in 1959 as this has the larger rounded 1959 Neck Profile!)
Frets are in great shape
Period correct Kluson repro tuners installed

Old added input jack on the outer rim is still installed (this guitar had a DeArmond at one time, and should you elect to install a floating pickup, the jack is there!)

Newer high quality repro pickguard and tailpiece installed

Original case is included - and this case is a road warrior - it's been partially re-lined (lower bout area) and the exterior has been painted black (was originally a brown lifton!)
