This fine Tibetan or Nepalese gilded bronze figure is the Vajrasattva Buddha, a key trantric Buddhist figure representing the "ideal Guru" who is frequently invoked in the guru mandala.  He is an important figure to the Newar People of the Kathmandu Valley.  I believe it dates to the c. 1910 or perhaps significantly earlier.  The figure is represented holding a vajra in his right hand and a ghanta in his left.  The hands and the face of the figure are beautifully modelled.  The entire pieces shows a very high level of craftsmanship with both the casting and chasing of the details of the figure.  The Buddha sits in a full lotus position upon a base with a lotus border.  The base is sealed with a vajra embossed copper base.  The  figure is 8" tall.  It is from the collection New York collector and dealer Robert Goodwin.  This fine Tibetan bronze is 8" tall x 5" wide at the base.
