An Italian Model 1850 Bersaglieri Officer's sabre. The Bersaglieri being the elite corps of marksmen and skirmishers in the Italian infantry. This example was a special private purchase by an officer (which can be seen from the non-regulation fullers at the tip) and was made by Wester & Co in Solingen, Germany. The Bakelite grip and provenance suggests that it was made sometime between WW1 and WW2. The blade has several notches along the edge, but has only minimal pitting and is good condition otherwise. The scabbard spring still holds the blade securely.
