18 ct Yellow Gold Signet Ring with Enamel - Antique Circa 1900

Description

This fine and impressive signet ring has been crafted in 18 ct yellow gold.

The rounded edged, square shaped anterior face of this antique signet ring is embellished with the engraved initials "RVI".

The anterior face has a hinged, push fit concealed compartment, which lifts to reveal an impressive painted enamel portrait of a ladies profile, dressed in characteristic period clothing.

The flared, elevated ring shoulders integrate with the main setting and blend seamlessly with the plain hallmarked ring shank.

The ring is hallmarked to the interior of the shank with the gold guarantee mark (crown), the 18 ct gold mark *18), the Birmingham Assay Office hallmark (anchor) and the maker"s mark for Charles Green & Sons (CG&S).

Condition

This unusual 18ct yellow gold signet ring with initials is fine quality with an impressive enamel panel.

The ring is a very good gauge of gold and is in excellent condition with English hallmarks to the interior of the shank.

The date letter hallmark is worn and illegible, in keeping with age.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique jewellery/estate jewelry.
