About the Artist:    Enrico Baj (1924 – 2003) was an important Italian artist and writer on art. Many of his works show an obsession with nuclear war.  He created prints, and sculptures in wood using collage and styled in collage in wood. He was close to the surrealist and dada movements, and was later associated with CoBrA.  His work was influenced by a variety of social and scientific themes, including nuclear warfare, the pseudo-philosophy  of "pataphysics," and human sexuality, which he explored through abstract, child-like imagery.
