Length and width: 101 x 101 cm (39,76 x 39,76 inches)

Weight: 462 g (16,29 ounces)

Fabric: cotton.

This textile is from Santa Maria de Jesus, Department of Sacatepequez, Guatemala, Cakchiquel Maya group.

It is a tzute (used as a head cloth, shawl, carrying cloth by the women of the village).

It was woven on the backstrap loom in two sections joined by a hand embroidered joining seam.

As you can see in the photos, I had this masterpiece of Mayan craftsmanship lined on the back.

You can use this handmade textile as a tablecloth, to decorate your home or to hang on the wall.

I bought it in Guatemala, the country whose wonderful colourful fabrics inspired a famous Italian fashion designer.

It would make a great gift for yourself or a loved one.
