This unit has been used and has a couple of recordings saved on it. The remote works nicely and includes batteries (4 AAAs). I did have a little bit of connectivity issue with the HDMI I was using. Once had it all settled, it worked fine, but it may need a tiny bit of fiddling to have a good connection to the tv. I was unable to get it to connect to the internet. Not sure if it was my router/Internet provider or not
