Dragon Armor 1:72 German King Tiger sSSPzAbt. 101, Battle Of The Bulge 1944.

About This Model:

King Tiger Number 008 of schwere SS-PanzerAbteilung 501 was abandoned during the Ardennes Offensive at the Antoine Farm, along the N23 road to the west of Stavelot.

According to German sources, the tank had engine trouble. The Tank Commander, SS-Untersturmführer Eduard Kalinowski, was the battalion adjutant.

He reportedly left the tank and the rest of the crew and continued on in a command car with the battalion commander.

The crew set fire to the tank and abandoned it on 25 December 1944. The crew may have also deliberately damaged their tank’s main gun.

The photo shows US troops hauling 008 off to clear the roadway [US Signal Corps photo]. Tow cables stretch from the rear of the tank toward the left, to whatever vehicle was used to pull it off the road.
