This magnificent bronze bust captures the fierce and spiritual resilience of a Native American warrior chief. With piercing eyes and a bold, wild expression, the chief exudes a powerful presence that commands attention. His hair is adorned with braids wrapped in strips of deer hide and coated in a stunning turquoise patina. A long feather at the back of his hair stretches towards the sky, also finished in turquoise patina.

The chief wears breastplate, a popular chest ornament and symbol of wealth and prestige among Native American warriors. The number of hair-pipe bones in the plate reflected the warrior's wealth, as these bones were difficult and expensive to obtain. Although they provided little protection in battle, the breastplates were prized as decorative and medicine items.
