Thomas Merton (1915 - 1968) was an American Trappist Monk, Theologian, Writer, Mystic, Poet, Social Activist and Scholar. He was renowned for his writings which compared Christianity to other religions, something rather uncommon in religious scholarly works during his time. This piece is the second printing of his work Seeds of Contemplation, before his revised edition of it was published in 1962, titled New Seeds of Contemplation. This would be an excellent find for anyone interested in spiritual scholarly works of the 20th century, or in religious authors.
