This is a hand-turned kaleidoscope made from a dyed plywood named colorwood. The
scope is 2 1/2 inches long and has a 3 mirror system that contains the
colored jewels which make beautiful patterns that change by simply
turning the kaleidoscope while pointing it to a light source. It comes
with the stand, which has been made from a matching block of colorwood. The kaleidoscope is finished with 2 coats of polishing wax, giving it a satin low
gloss shine, which really brings out the unique patterns in the wood
grain. The base has been lacquered. This kaleidoscope has been made with brown colorwood.
The wood is at most 1/16 inch thick, the individual plys were dyed/stained different colors/shades, then the laminates were glued together. The result is the beautiful striped look you see in the pictures.
The kaleidoscope has been turned into an hourglass shape.
The kaleidoscope has chrome colored hardware.
The colorful picture was taken through the peephole of the kaleidoscope.
A lovely toy for children and adults alike! Works well as a conversation piece too!!
