This simply stunning cut crystal decanter is about as luxurious as they come. The heavy wall crystal body and neck have been scale cut and polished in their entirely. This work was all done by hand in the second half of the 1800s by a master cutter. The base is 32 point star cut. The hollow stopper is also scale cut, although it is not the original stopper. The stopper does get a very tight fit, but sits just a little high if you look carefully, and the tiny etched number does not match the bottle number.

You do have little chips off the points of concurrency of the stopper, and a chipped stopper base, and a couple of rather small rim chips to the decanter itself. There is some misting to the very base of the decanter, but not on the walls. Overall, none of these issues distract from the piece as a display item, or affect its function.

The decanter holds 850 mL, and weighs about 1.499 kg empty including stopper. It could form a stunning addition to an art glass collection, or a drinks cabinet. It's recommended not to store spirits in there long term. If I had to try and pin down the decade, I would estimate that this item is from approximately the 1880s, and that it was made in England.
