This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver cafe au lait set consists of a coffee pot and hot milk jug.
These cafe au lait jugs have a plain octagonal tapering panelled form to a stepped collet style foot, all in the George I style.
The surface of each piece is plain and unembellished with an applied moulded border to the upper rim.
Each piece is fitted with the original hallmarked domed panelled hinged cover surmounted by an impressive silver circular urn style finial.
The milk and coffee pots retain the original carved painted wood handles incorporating a plain scrolling thumbpiece and plain sterling silver sockets.
The coffee pot is fitted with an impressive panelled swan necked spout with a scrolling thumbpiece to the upper surface of the lip.
The underside of each piece bears the retailer"s mark "Mappin & Webb LTD".
