Very ltd vinyl pressing, 500 copies in a full colour single sleeve housing eco mix vinyl colour and effect vinyl. Exact colour and effect will be a surprise. 8 page lyric booklet & DLC. 6 tracks of visceral hardcore punk, full of spit and fury, venom and hooks, with twists and turns going beyond a straight mosh and thrash. You could say that feminist/queercore punk trio Shooting Daggers have been ‘nailing it’ since the release of their first single on New Heavy Sounds (Manic Pixie Dream Girl) dropped in October last year. Already a name to watch and a ‘must see’ on the homegrown punk circuit, the single received a host of love from press folks. For example … ' My life for one has been marginally improved by Shooting Daggers’ big-riffing feminist chunterpunk entering it. ' The Quietus // ''Fuck yeah. These Shooting Daggers are the real deal’ Loud Women // Without doubt, they are ‘the real deal’. Fierce and committed in what they believe in, as how they play. This is shit kicking UKHC full of youthful anger and shorn of vacuous posturing, which continues gaining fans with every gig. The ante was well and truly ‘upped’ when they were invited to play two nights at London’s Electric Ballroom as support to Amyl and The Sniffers, followed by Chaos Theory’s all dayer and an invitation to play Desertfest 2022. Now at last Shooting Daggers are ready to drop their first major brace of songs with their debut EP ‘Athames’. The EP is called “ATHAMES” which are a type of daggers used by witches during rituals. Women in history have been perceived with an evil eye and were burnt because they were suspected to be witches merely for being independent and living outside society's patriarchal rules. Add to that an in-your-face Riot Grrl attitude, fat grunge licks, speeding 'SST band' riffs, and the artful and political angst of DC Hardcore and you have a cracking debut EP. Opener 'No Exit' may be under 2 mins but it will leave you pretty much awed by Daggers' dynamism. From Sal's gritty and angsty tirade, to Bea's hooky back-up vox, with blistering riffing and break-neck pace that twists and turns faster than you can catch your breath. 'Liar' is a song about breaking the silence over abusive males and comes on with a DC hardcore heavy groove that is so intense even Sal's pained vocal attack seems to take it out of her. 'Manic Pixie Dream Girl' already sounds like a punk classic and sounds even better for being on vinyl. The riffage on 'Carnage' (which is about animal cruelty, another of the band’s concerns) has an almost Doom metal weight and then 'We Will Live' crashes in with a creepy and surprising opening. Bea's twisted goth-prog bass and Sal 'doing moody' that a 'Suburban-Relapse' Siouxsie would be proud of. There are even some Pixies guitar twists too. And it must be said that throughout all the mayhem, drummer Raquel anchors it all, handling the push and shove rhythm shifts and power dynamics deftly on all 6 tracks. No one trick pony’s this lot. Finally (as if we didn't know) the band's anthem 'You Can't Kill Us' is simply as hardcore as f**k. In fact, there more going on in one of these tracks than there is in most bands’ entire oeuvre. T
