Nomuka Island, was named Rotterdam by the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman during his voyage in the South Pacific in 1643. Tasman named the island after the Dutch city of Rotterdam.

This map is an important historical artifact that reflects the European exploration and mapping of the South Pacific during the late 18th century.
