Zhao Ji, Emperor Huizong of Song (November 2, 1082 to June 4, 1135), also known as the Master of Xuanhe, was the eighth emperor of the Song Dynasty (reigned from February 23, 1100 to January 18, 1126) and a calligrapher and painter. The eleventh son of Emperor Shenzong of Song, Zhao Xu, and the younger brother of Emperor Zhezong of Song, Zhao Xu. His mother was Empress Qinci, Chen. He was successively conferred the titles of Prince Suining and Prince Duan. Zhao Ji developed palace painting, collected a wide range of painters, created the Xuanhe Painting Academy, and trained a group of outstanding painters such as Wang Ximeng. His organized compilation of "Xuanhe Shuxie", "Xuanhe Huapu", and "Xuanhe Bogu Tu" are also precious historical records in the study of art history. [72] He created his own calligraphy font and was later known as the "thin gold font". Zhao Ji's artistic achievements are also very high, with representative works such as the "Lotus Golden Rooster", "Red Polygonum and White Goose", and "Autumn Evening Pond".
