If you know, you know…

Back when MP3 music first hit the scene, Napster gave us the ability to download every song we could have ever dreamed of and the MP3 player war began!

To compete against the iPod Samsung and Napster teamed up to release the Samsung Napster YP-910 GS in 2003.

Unlike its competitors, the YP-910 GS has a built in FM tuner so you can play FM radio stations. It also has a built-in wireless transmitter, so you can wirelessly broadcast to an FM radio without buying a separate device.

All you have to do is plug the included antenna into the YP-910 GS line-in port. The player broadcasts over four different frequencies. Its range is short, though—it needs to be 1 to 2 feet near the FM radio transmitting to.

The YP-910GS can take voice notes, but beyond that, it can record directly from the radio and lets you transfer those recordings to a PC via the included USB 2.0 cable.

The process is wonderfully easy: Simply click the record button when a station is playing. You can easily transfer the resulting WMA file from your player's library to your PC's hard drive the next time you connect.

Plug the included audio cable into the line-in port, and you can record directly from a stereo or other source.

This is a rare piece of music history. If you’re a music collector looking for something cool to play your mp3 files on, this is it.

The Napster YP-910 was the device that Napster developed to compete against the newly released iPod. It was the device that they pulled out all the stops with and was the Cadillac of MP3 players. It was only on the market for a few months before Napster was bought out. I’ve looked for another one out there and have yet to find one. This device was rarely used and was stored in a cool dry location.

It has been tested and works well and will be packaged appropriately to arrive safely.
