Project Sony PS-LX250H Belt Drive Turntable With Slip Mat, Cartridge and Stylus

I am selling the Project Sony PS-LX250H Belt Drive Turntable With Slip Mat, Cartridge and Stylus in the images shown. This turntable has a built-in pre-amp so that you can use this turntable with receivers that do not have a dedicated phono pre-amp. This function can be switch on and off.

I got this turntable in a load of parts and I don't know its history. The turntable powers up and the platter spins. However, This turntable has several issues listed below. I am selling this as a non-working unit for parts / salvage only.

I did a real quick function test on this turntable with my test mixer, a good record and good headphones. I found the turntable to be not properly functioning.

Here are the issues I experienced when testing this turntable:

1. The Stop button does not actually stop the platter from moving. The platter keeps moving even when the stop button is pressed.

2.  The Up/Down button seemed to be finicky and would not always raise or lower the tone arm when pressed.

3.  The auto start function did not always bring the stylus onto my test record.

4.  The audio quality sounded distorted and audio level was extremely low. I could here audio in my test headphones but due to the distortion and low level I would not consider it to be at all listenable as it sits. This may just be matter of needing a new stylus but it could be more substantial. I found replacement styluses here on eBay for around $13 for generic styluses and $18 for genuine OEM Audio Technica styluses.

I did not test the turntable beyond this point. I did not try to fix any of these issues. These may all be easy fixes but they may not be. It is my opinion that this turntable is only suitable for a knowledgeable tech who understands the risk of purchasing a turntable in this condition.
