The design is the work of Jim Kay, the artist behind the new illustrated editions of the Harry Potter series, adapted for coinage by The Royal Mint’s Ffion Gwillim. These licensed collectors pieces, created in partnership with Bloomsbury Publishing, The Blair Partnership and Warner Bros, Entertainment, represent the first time that the Hogwarts Express has featured on official UK currency. The coins in this eagerly-anticipated range are some of the last to feature Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Subsequent releases will use Martin Jennings new definitive effigy of King Charles III.
