Maison de Fou, French for "Mad House", was started by stewardess and self-titled "junior tycoon" Elizabeth Rich and two of her friends in the mid-60s. They made jewelry for a short time (approximately 1965-70) that appeared in Vogue Magazine on Jean Shrimpton and was sold in high end NYC department stores and boutiques. In high demand by the 1960s fashionable set, Maison de Fou peices are extremely rare and highly coveted by collectors "in the know". In fact, this label has become quite scarce in recent years.
