Edson (1876-1968), the son of painter Allan Edson, was not only a photographer but a painter, poet, and violinist as well. He spent much of his photographic career based in the Seattle area and is known for his colorful hand-painted images and orotones of Mount Rainier. It's difficult to find a finer representation of his early work than this photo here.
